Meet the Village

Our Founder's Story

Our founder, Amber-Nadia Asumda is a Ghanaian-American, Black woman with a fire for empowering women of African descent. She brings a background in philanthropy and advocacy with experiences spanning working for UNICEF USA and founding the Black Women's Empowerment Conference at Tufts University.

During a trip home to her familial village of Kusanaba and the Bawku West district of northern Ghana in spring 2024, Amber-Nadia experienced first hand the entrepreneurial fervor of women and girls working to provide a livelihood for their families by processing shea and other natural products. However, there is a gap of identifying purchasers of their products and not receiving a fair wage, leaving the women artisans below the poverty line. There is also a lack of financial education, cash transfers for off seasons, social support, and lack of access to WASH facilities and community health care.

With this in mind, Amber-Nadia has founded Ayineem's Village as a for-profit, social enterprise with a business model of selling their natural products as CPGs to conscious consumers and intentional reinvestment into economic development projects that alleviate poverty and build sustainable livelihoods for women and families in her familial home in northern Ghana.

Ideal for all skin types, it is especially revered for its ability to gently exfoliate, soothe irritation, and combat acne.
